many of these photos are distorted and with no digital manipulation/editing. I used a couple different used black and white filters. I just purchased them for pocket change at the old Poloroid Store a couple blocks from here. It kind of looks like a dream; I think I like it here.

I collect old Sunset Cookbooks. The one I used here was called “The Best of Sunset”;

the silhouettes used are those of Andrew Siann, Samantha Ashcraft, Devon Hansen, Elliot Dahl and Makenzie Stone so I thought the book’s content would be fitting with the images.

I went to the forest and brought back photographs. When I saw the salmon glowing wheat from the eerie sunset and the odd shadows cut everywhere, I was sure I couldn’t bring back what I’d seen. From a viewpoint very close to the top of the mountain, I followed wheat and rocks; I kept seeing a charred foothill, covered in crucifixes, all the trees seemed uncomfortable and lonely, and there was that glow; a weird pinkish tint, it was like paint was dragged through the air. It was not a usual evening scene. I used really strange settings because I wanted high contrast, vignetting and grain, like film. I haven’t edited these but I probably won’t. I have a very curious and comfortable feeling about them.
